International Day of Women and Girls in Science Home Community International Day of Women and Girls In Science Inspiring and Engaging Women in Science The United Nations General Assembly declared 11 February as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science in 2015. According to the UN, over the past decades, the global community has made a lot of effort in inspiring and engaging women and girls in science. Yet women and girls continue to be excluded from participating fully in science. The UN announced that they are committed to recognizing the role of women and girls in science, not only as beneficiaries, but also as agents of change 2022 International Day of Women and Girls in Science Celebration On February 11, 2022 the CTVR Committee of Women in Vision Research (CTVR WVR) pioneered the first UCI-wide celebration of women and girls in science. While science and gender equality have seen growth in the past few years, many women and girls are still underrepresented in STEM fields. Women in Vision are committed to bring awareness to the significant gender gap and create opportunities to encourage girls and women to explore disciplines.
