Audrone Lapinaite, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics at the University of California, Irvine. Trained as a structural biologist, Dr. Lapinaite’s research focuses on understanding the molecular architecture and regulation of protein complexes that govern essential cellular processes. Her laboratory uses cryo–electron microscopy and complementary biochemical approaches to visualize macromolecular assemblies at high resolution and uncover how their structure relates to function. By investigating how these complexes are assembled, regulated, and disrupted in disease states, her work aims to reveal fundamental mechanisms of cellular control and identify new molecular targets with therapeutic potential.
