Victor L. Perez, MD, is Director of the Cornea Research Program at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. His research focuses on ocular surface disease, corneal immunology, and inflammatory mechanisms that contribute to vision loss. Dr. Perez’s work explores the pathogenesis of conditions such as dry eye disease, keratitis, and corneal transplantation rejection, with an emphasis on understanding immune-mediated damage and developing targeted therapeutic strategies. His laboratory integrates clinical research with translational approaches to evaluate novel anti-inflammatory treatments and biologic therapies aimed at preserving corneal integrity and restoring visual function. Through these efforts, his research seeks to improve patient outcomes and advance innovative treatments for complex corneal and ocular surface disorders.
